The Ball Is Done

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

The ball was a good time. We didn’t stay very long because Justin had school this morning at 8, but the company was good, the dresses were (mostly) beautiful and all of the guys looked handsome in their blues. There was the usual ceremony stuff, then the food (gag) was served. After a few rounds of group pictures the dancing began and we headed home.

Since the food was less than stellar, we made a pit stop at Taco Bell then I ran in to Walgreen’s for some laundry detergent. I only got a couple of funny looks. Since the ball was in a different town, we had a 45 minute drive to pick up the kiddos then another 20 on home. All in all, we had a good time and we’re looking forward to next year’s.

Giant Update-y Thing

We’ve been busy over here at the North Carolina branch of Hackworth Headquarters. Halloween has passed and Thanksgiving is upon us. Again. Wasn’t the last one just a couple of weeks ago? But, before we can do Thanksgiving, we must do the Marine Corps Ball. Out of the 5 years J has been in the Marine Corps, I’ve gone to one ball. His first he went to alone. His second I was knocked up with Kate and went in a fabulous handmade gown. Thanks Grandma! His third he spent in Japan and his fourth he spent in hot hot places. So that brings us to number five. I have no excuse not to go other than I hate wearing dresses. So last weekend I saddled J with the kids and made my friend Lori come shopping with me. I got a dress that was too expensive and that I’ll only wear once and had my suspicions that dress shopping sucks confirmed.

Ryan is getting over a bout of conjunctivitis and a nasty cold. Katelyn is still as cute as ever and Lauren is still enjoying school. I’m waiting for her to come home for the first time and declare her hatred for school. She’s already come home with phone numbers to call her little friends. Thankfully it was a girls, because I KNOW I can’t handle boyfriends yet.

And with that, it’s lunch time. Ryan is standing at the gate saying, “EAT EAT!” so I better feed him before he starts gnawing on his sister.
