Take A Moment, Please

Monday, January 30th, 2006

With the sensitive nature of some of the things I’ll be writing about in the coming months, I’d like to have a little more control over who reads. All you need to do is register and I’ll set your user level so you’ll be able to see the more detailed posts. If you’ve never commented before, please go ahead and register, but send me an email telling me a little about yourself. Thanks for your understanding.

Like I Didn’t Have Enough to Do Already

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

Tomorrow we’re taking Miss Lauren to register for soccer.  I’m so excited for her and at the same time I’m so sad to see her growing up so fast. I mean really, she just started walking yesterday, right?

She’s thrilled at the prospect and can’t wait to “get a number” on her shirt. I’m also going to look in to some sort of martial arts for her and dance or gymnastics for Katelyn the monkey child. Ryan will just have to deal with the park and squealing at the squirrels. And if his squealing causes said squirrels to keel over and die, so much the better*.

Cute story, we bought some new sofas yesterday and when Kate got up this morning and went in to the livingroom she said, “I don’t like the new chairs. I want my other ones back”. Keep in mind the old ones had been destroyed by the dog. But she persisted until I explained to her that the old ones went to a big trash can. So far she won’t sit on the new ones.

* I’ve had a hate/hate relationship with squirrels since my days of living on campus at OU and they would throw acorns at me while I was walking to class. Or jump out in front of me while I was driving. Or just sit there and mock me. Squirrels are eeeeevil.

Three Day Weekend Here I Come

Friday, January 13th, 2006

I’ve finished my homework for the week and I’m so relieved. After not being in school or having to study for 7 years, this is quite odd. I’m having to squeeze homework time in between naps and after bedtime. College before kids was MUCH easier.

Justin’s aunt and uncle are coming up this weekend to see him one last time before he deploys. We’re hoping for a trip to Mike’s Farm either this weekend or next. It depends on the weather.

I put several pictures up over at Flickr so go look if you’ve got a minute. I’m going to go cool my poor little brain in a bucket of ice water before it cooks itself.

We’re Going to Try This Again

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

I’ve got the archives back in place finally.  I had to go through and delete tons of duplicate posts even though WP is supposed to be “smart” enough to not do that.  I also lost a TON of comments.  C’est la vie.  I sure wasn’t going to enter them by hand.

I’ve been putting off working on the site because I’ve got a ton of things going on right now.  I just started work on my BS last week, I’m still watching the baby down the street every day, and we’re still getting Justin ready for his deployment.  This blog was a lifeline back in 2000 when he went to Japan and again when he was in Iraq in 2004.  I’ll be at it again soon, but right now spending time with Justin (and doing homework) is the priority.  Expect everything back in full swing at the beginning of February.  I’ll still be here sporadically, of course and you can always see what’s going on in pictures over at Flickr.  And even though I don’t comment, I’m still checking on all of you guys.

Grr

I’m having issues importing all of my old entries.  Hang tight while I get it straightened out.
