Just a small audio clip of the boy child saying, “I Chubby and Ryan!”. Enjoy.

Is it Really Only Monday?

Monday, April 24th, 2006

The past couple of weeks have brought all sorts of new things to our humble abode. Most notably the Little Man of the House’s ability to throw one heck of a hissy fit. I’d like for it to stop before he gives himself a concussion, but he’s not having any of that.

Since our return from Columbia over the Easter weekend, getting Ryan to bed is a chore I’d like to give to that girl in high school that told me I was going to go to hell. Well, I did and this is definitely it.

Since he’s in a toddler bed, he can come and go as he pleases and mostly he pleases to get up and run down the hall giggling his little maniac giggle. We do the up down at least 15 times. Each time ends with him throwing himself into the linen closet door at the end of the hall screaming, “NO MOMMY NO NO NO!”.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

He also does really cute stuff, which is a good thing or I’d have to mail him off to one of The Grandmas. So far, my favorite is this little game we play:

Mom: Give Mommy kisses!
Ryan: *MWAH!* Thank you Mommy!
Mom: No, thank you, Ryan!
Ryan: No, I CHUBBY!

Yup, our son thinks his name is Chubby. See? Told you it was cute. And it almost makes up for the bedtime issue. Almost.

That’s Mrs. Slacker to You

As I sit here typing this, Kate is transferring all of her clothes into her brand new dresser and waiting for me to make her new bunkbeds with her new bedding. The transformation is almost complete. When we moved in, their room was terrible. Before pictures on Flickr, after pictures coming soon.

There are still a few more things to get for the room. Just some special touches to girly it up. Since Kate’s birthday is in (gasp!!!) 11 days, we created a wishlist of the things she’s wanting. You know, for the grandmas. Just in case. You can find it right here. The things with 2 requested are obviously one for Lauren, one for Kate.

I know I haven’t been around much again, but the computer was busted for nearly a week, then it was Spring Break/Easter/Our 6th Anniversary and we were celebrating those things in Columbia. Speaking of Anniversary, my sweet, wonderful and totally adorable husband sent me cheesecake and something else that is supposed to be arriving today. The cake is excellent and so not good for my rear end, but it’s cheesecake so I don’t care. I am restraining from eating the entire thing in one sitting, but it’s hard.

So, that’s what is going on over here. We’ve got a soccer tournament this weekend and the soccer party is next week. We’ll probably also be doing something for Kate’s birthday that weekend. Bowling or the park since Lauren’s soccer party is at Chuck E. Cheese and I refuse to go there twice in the same week. Even I have my limits.

Lesson #1 on How NOT to Spend Your Sunday Morning

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Picture this. You’re driving down the street and you see two women in brighly colored pajamas sitting in the middle of the road. There are little girls running around everywhere and a little boy in the middle of a field in his carseat. Tools and jacks and tires are flung every which way and curses are flying fast and loud.

That was the scene in front of my friend Lori’s house this morning. She called me up at 8:45 9:45 and told me she had a flat and didn’t know how to change it, so off we go. After some struggles with the jack, we finally get everything under way. After we’ve already pulled off the flat tire I turned to Lori and said, “Don’t you have roadside assistance with your cell phone or something?”. Her reply? “Yeah, heehee, I’ve got it with the car, too!”

And I make babies cry.
