Birthdays, Weddings and Holidays

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

It’s been a busy few days for us, but we’re finally getting settled back in. Thursday we headed off for Columbia, SC to attend a wedding. Lauren and Kate were flower girls and they were fabulous. I was a bit worried that Kate wouldn’t be able to control herself up there for more than two seconds, but she did great. Instead of making them stay up there through the whole ceremony, they sat when Uncle Bryan gave Becky away. It worked perfectly.

Afterwards was the reception. Too much cake was scarfed down and Ryan found him a new buddy in the professional photographer that was hired to shoot the wedding. At one point Ryan was on his stomach on the floor with his head propped up in his hands and the photog got on his stomach and snapped several pictures. I can’t wait to get my hands on those. Until then, I guess this will have to do.

Friday was Justin’s birthday. He finally caught up with me and turned the big 2-6. I kindof hate that grown up birthdays don’t really get celebrated once they have kids of their own, so maybe we’ll do something when he gets home. I won’t be cruel and bake him a cake myself because it will only end in disaster. And fire.

Then of course, there was Mother’s Day on Sunday. I was supposed to have received some flowers from Justin the Wednesday before we left, but the flower company called and said the item he had ordered (2 dozen multi colored roses) was no longer available but they could get a replacement sent by Friday. Since we were going out of town, that wasn’t possible. I told them to send something similar or purple on Tuesday. Two days after Mother’s Day. If you’ll remember, they screwed up my anniversary flowers, too. So they’re 0 for 2 and I’m not happy. It just ticks me off that my deployed husband is trying so hard to do nice things for me and make me feel special while he’s gone and they keep screwing up. It’s not like he can run down to the florist and pick me something up. He’s counting on this company to do things he can’t do right now. And it’s not that the flowers weren’t lovely when I finally did get them, but Justin wanted me to have a certain thing on a certain date and it didn’t happen. Okay, moving on before I get really really steamed. Aren’t they pretty?

Next up, THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

You Think I Forgot About You, Huh?

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

I didn’t though. I’ve been quite busy for the last week. I can hear you asking yourself what could be more important than updating all of you on our day to day. Well, I’ll tell you. Letting the boy play with his trains in the buff is more important. Uh huh. I let him play with his trains sans clothing. While I checked my email and tooled around on Flickr. He loved every diaperless second of it, too.

I’ve also been playing referee for the girls. They’re fighting constantly over which GameBoy game to play. No way am I buying two of every game, too.

Tomorrow evening we’re headed off to Columbia for Cousin Becky’s wedding. Lauren and Kate are going to be flower girls and Ryan is going to be somewhere in another room so I can enjoy the ceremony.

Now I have to go be busy again since Ryan has stripped off his clothing and diaper. The boy really likes his nakey time.

It’s Birthday Season

Monday, May 1st, 2006

We kicked off birthday season with The Kate today. She’s 4 years old and I’m still trying to find about 2 and a half of them.

We went to O’Charley’s for lunch yesterday and, even though her actual birthday is today, I let her open all of her gifts yesterday. I thought it would be pure torture to make her wait until Lauren got home from school today. Then this evening, Lori and her gang came over for burgers, hot dogs, cake and ice cream.

We’ve been so blessed to have Kate. She’s so energetic and imaginative. She’s always on her own page and quite happy to be there. I could go on and on, but I think she just pulled the shower curtain down and that’s my cue to put everyone to bed.
